Anajali Primary School
Wellington Nabwoba founded Anajali School (Kiswahili for “He Cares”) in 2000 after meeting three children living on the street who could not afford to pay school fees. The school has grown from a class of seven to 440 students today.
Students arrive at Anajali at 6:00 am to help with chores or study and prepare for their 8 am classes. At 4:30 the younger students are let out, and Classes 6-8 stay and study until 8:00 pm. The students of Anajali attend class six days a week, and the school has won an award for academic excellence, placing second out of 700 schools in the area.
Anajali depends on the generosity of sponsors to operate. Below are some of the costs for operation:
Teacher salary for one month: $50
Yearly tuition for primary school: $240
Scholarship for high school student: $750
